URecovery: A Collegiate Recovery Community

URecovery: A Collegiate Recovery Community at the University of Miami, is an organization that creates an environment in which recovering students can interact socially, and be of maximum service to the University of Miami. We provide the much-needed nurturing and affirming environment for social and psychological change as students recover from substance use disorders and process addictions, enabling a student in recovery to embrace a normative collegiate experience, and serve as a catalyst for a culture shift on campus. We maintain that the science of abstinence-based approaches to recovery is meaningful and will not be discounted, and all pathways to recovery are welcomed. Finally, we can #recoveroutloud, because of #collegiaterecovery ! Currently, there are over 150 active Collegiate Recovery Programs across the United States, supported by the Association of Recovery in Higher Education, and Transforming Youth Recovery.
